Four people are dead after an accident early Sunday morning in South Peoria.

First responders were called to Washington and Darst around 3:45 a.m. on a single-vehicle accident. One person was ejected from the vehicle, and three were entrapped. All four young women in the vehicle were pronounced dead on the scene.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Jazzman Burns, 22; Diamond Williams, 18; Quanylan Thomas, 19; and Tyesha Thomas, 18, all of Peoria, were the victims.

"One life lost is tragic; four from one event is unconscionable. My heart breaks for these families," said Harwood on Sunday afternoon.

Police said the vehicle was traveling south on Washington at a high rate of speed, when the driver lost control, spun out, and struck a tree.

The crash remains under investigation.
