One Dead, Two Wounded in Early Saturday Shootings

The Peoria Police Department is investigating two shootings early Saturday morning which left one man dead and two others injured.

Officers first responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 2500 block of W. Siebold just after 1:30 a.m. Police arriving on scene found two men outside of a house. Both suffered apparent gunshot wounds and were rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood later pronounced one man, 40-year-old Caleb McCracken on Peoria, dead at the hospital. He likely died instantly.

The other man shot is in serious condition.

Multiple vehicles at the scene were also damaged by gunfire. There is no suspect information.

Just before 4:30 a.m., Peoria police responded to another ShotSpotter alert in the 2100 block of N. Hampton Court. Officers on scene found a vehicle crashed into the front porch of a house in the 2100 block of N. North. The driver fled the area. A K-9 search for the driver didn't turn up any results.

Witnesses told police people in two vehicles were shooting at each other when one vehicle crashed into the porch.

A short time later, a man was dropped off at the hospital via private vehicle. He suffered a gunshot wound to the back and is listed in serious condition.
