The Peoria International Airport will get just over $6.1 million in aid from the federal CARES Act to make up for declining passenger counts and revenues. The Federal Aviation Administration announced the funding Tuesday. Airports can use the money for capital expenses, payroll, utilities, and debt payments. Airports remain open as an essential service during Gov. J.B. Pritzker's stay-at-home order. The Peoria airport is disinfecting commonly-touched surfaces regularly. General aviation airports like Mount Hawley, Pekin Municipal Airport, and the Marshall County Airport will get $30,000 each to support their continued operations.
