Peoria Police Investigating First 2020 Homicide

Peoria police are investigating the city's first apparent homicide of 2020. 

Peoria Police Officer Amy Dotson said officers arrived to a house in the 1300 block of E. Hillcrest around 9 a.m. to find a man shot in a yard. Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood declared him dead on the scene. He's been identified as 24-year-old Shawaan M. Warr. An autopsy is pending,

24-year-old Anthony Robinson was arrested in connection with an earlier ShotSpotter call believed linked to the homicide.

The city experienced 25 homicides in 2019. It was the bloodiest year on record in decades.
