After 7 Years of Delays, Peoria's Largest Hotel Reopens

Hawkeye Hotels

Peoria's largest hotel is finally open once again.

The downtown Four Points by Sheraton officially reopens Tuesday under the banner of Burlington, Iowa-based Hawkeye Hotels.

The 323-room hotel has more than 20,000 square feet of meeting space, including a ballroom which accommodates 1,800 people. The hotel also has the Craft309 Kitchen + Bar.

Peoria Area Convention and Visitor's Bureau president and CEO J.D. Dalfonso said the hotel's reopening will help the city capture more convention traffic. A shuttle service will transport guests between the hotel and Peoria International Airport.

The hotel's reopening comes after several management changes. Hawkeye Hotels acquired the property in 2015 when its previous owners, Alena Hospitality, folded after its CEO, Nikesh Patel, was arrested on federal loan-fraud charges. He later attempted to flee the country.
