Developer Casey Baldovin Announces 2nd Big Warehouse District Project

Developer Casey Baldovin is announcing a new project in the Warehouse District.

The Center is across the streetfrom his Adams and Oak mixed-use development in the 800 block of SW Adams. The new development will feature 25 apartments, bars, restaurants, and five small eateries in an open marketplace format he describes as an incubator for aspiring culinary business owners.

Baldovin said he wants to cultivate a thriving neighborhood in the old industrial block he's bought up.

"Sustainability isn't just having people come buy goods here every day. You need to have jobs. This needs to be active with people living down here, not just upper-end rents. This needs to be all of it. So that's my focus here in this corridor," he said.

Mayor Jim Ardis said Peoria is finally beginning to see the payoff from major infrastructure investments in the Warehouse District years ago.

"The things that are happening here, the innovation area of our community. But more people need to know what's happening," he said. "And the buzz is becoming louder, and louder, and louder. So the buzz is going to become a roar soon. We're pretty sure of that."

Baldovin says he expects businesses to begin opening this fall. The apartments will be ready by spring 2021.
