Another hotel is set to open in East Peoria.
A long-stay Residence Inn by Marriott is planning to open on Altorfer Lane, not far from the Levee District.
Commissioner Dan Decker said the hotel didn't ask the city for any money, but did request storm sewer upgrades on the road.
"Those improvements will not just benefit them. They will benefit the surrounding businesses as well, as well as the surrounding hotels," Decker said.
A Fairfield Inn and Best Western are adjacent to the proposed hotel site.
The city council unanimously approved a $61,000 contract with Stark Excavating to improve the storm sewer. The majority of that funding comes out of city hotel-motel tax revenue.
