Blickenstaff Donates Roosevelt Statue to Peoria Heights

Courtesy KDB Group
Artist Lonnie Stewart alongside a model of the Teddy Roosevelt statue he's creating.

Legend says it was President Teddy Roosevelt who first gave historic Grandview Drive its name.

Now, an 18-foot tall statue is set to be erected in the village of Peoria Heights that he visited in 1910.

Developer Kim Blickenstaff is commissioning a statue of the 26th president riding on horseback. Local artist Lonnie Stewart will mold the statue at an East Peoria foundry.

Blickenstaff will donate the statue to the village of Peoria Heights. Village leaders haven't picked out a location yet.
