Judge Presiding Over Oyler's Battery Case Recuses Himself

The judge presiding over Peoria City Councilman Zach Oyler's domestic battery case has recused himself.

Judge John Vespa filed paperwork Thursday saying he was recusing himself over a perceived conflict of interest. Vespa has previously said he knows Oyler from local Republican Party events.

This means Oyler's scheduled motion hearing tomorrow is canceled. The 10th Circuit's Chief Judge will re-assign the case.

Oyler is charged with battering his wife back in July.
