Peoria is Only Region to Lose Jobs Over Past Year

Unemployment fell across most of Illinois over the yearlong span ending in September. But not in the Peoria region.

The Peoria metropolitan area lost about 1,500 jobs between September 2018 and last month.

However, the Illinois Department of Employment Security reports unemployment rates fell from 4.6 percent to 4.3 percent over the same timespan.

The majority of the job losses were in leisure, hospitality, and manufacturing.

Every other Illinois metropolitan area gained jobs over the same timespan.
