The city of Peoria’s budget next year will be 6.2 percent higher than this year’s budget.

City Manager Patrick Urich says that despite the increased expenditures, it will be a balanced budget.

There’s no property tax increase. There are no layoffs and we’re putting $1.4 million back into the general fund next year," Urich said.

Most of the recommended increase is for capital expenses.

The council will discuss the budget beginning next week, with final approval scheduled for November 12.
