Brothers Kenny and Wayne Baum will co-chair this year’s Salvation Army Tree of Lights campaign.

The campaign runs November through January. It raises money for holiday assistance and financial support for people throughout the Peoria area.

Wayne Baum is board chairman of CORE Construction.

“Peoria is such a generous community. I mean, in so many causes. They basically never say no; they reach out, small donations, large donations. And they always seem to come up with the necessary needs of the community," he said.

His brother, Kenny, is an emeritus member of the Salvation Army board and retired from the Otto Baum construction company.

Kenny Baum said Peoria comes together to support their own during Christmastime.

“Even though we have struggles amongst each other sometimes, that’s a special time of bonding," he said.

The Tree of Lights Campaign officially kicks off on November 13 at Northwoods Mall.
