If you've turned on the local TV news in the past week or two, you've probably noticed a couple new faces.
Kimberly Eiten joined the evening anchor team at WMBD/WYZZ last week. The LaSalle-Peru native started her journalism career at the LaSalle News-Tribune before heading off to TV markets in Baltimore, Portland, and Orlando.
She joins co-anchors Eugene Daniel and Rebecca Brumfield, sports anchor Kurt Pegler, and Chief Meteorologist Chris Yates.
She's joined in Peoria by her dog, "Peter Jennings."
Eiten fills the vacancy left by Lauren Langer.
In other news...
WEEK has a new weekend meterologist. Grace Devine joins anchor Lauren Melendez and sports anchor Pablo Iglesias on the desk on Saturdays and Sundays.
She comes to Peoria from WHIZ-TV in Zanesville, Ohio. The New Jersey native is a recent graduate of The Ohio State University.
Meterologist Jesse Guinn previously held the weekend gig. He's now on 25 News Today alongside Semone Doughton, who's been anchoring the NBC affiliate's 2.5 hour morning show and 1.5 hour midday show largely solo since longtime anchor Gina Morss left in May.
Goodbye, Galesburg
The Galesburg Register-Mail's Robert Connelly is leaving the paper after about four years on board. Connelly is leaving Galesburg to take up a job at the Dispatch-Argus in the Quad Cities.
He'll join former Register-Mail columnist Tom Loewy, whose job was cut in a recent wave of GateHouse layoffs.
Connelly primarily covered courts in Knox County, but expanded his beat to other areas as the paper laid off personnel.
His last day at the paper is Oct. 11.
Lee Enterprises, the owner of the Dispatch-Argus' onetime cross-river rival Quad City Times, purchased the paper in 2017.
