Flash flooding is being reported across Central Illinois Friday afternoon as a storm system moves through the region.
University was closed at Altorfer in Peoria around 2 p.m. due to flash flooding. High water on the roadways and downed tree limbs are reported across the region.
The city of Peoria was placed under a collision alert at 2:10 p.m. Anyone in an accident where no one is injured and the vehicles are drivable are asked to exchange information and report the accident at the Peoria Police Department within 36 hours after the alert is lifted.
Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties are under a flash flood warning until 4:32 p.m. The National Weather Service said the storms will subside later this afternoon, but pick back up again this evening.
More thunderstorms are possible from Saturday into early Sunday.
Overall rainfall is projected to be between 1.25 and 2.25 inches.
