Peoria Volunteer Heads to Florida to Aid Hurricane Response Efforts

National Weather Service
Hurricane Dorian Projected Path and Timeline

American Red Cross volunteers are headed to Florida to help out with the Hurricane Dorian response.

The National Weather Service projects the hurricane will strike the Florida peninsula and east coast this weekend. Two volunteers from Central Illinois and one from southern Illinois are headed down to stage for the storm. One of them is Cindy Clark of Peoria. This is her sixth deployment to a hurricane zone.

“It’s one of those adventures that you have in your life that you realize I’m able to do this and help people.” Clark is set to arrive in Tallahassee Friday afternoon.

She said the best way for people to help is to donate money, because it allows the Red Cross to best respond to local needs.
