Peoria County Jail
Lawrence Burns

The Peoria Police Department arrested a man in connection with a shooting on the city's South Side early Monday morning.

Police responded to the 1600 block of S. Griswold just before 2 a.m. after a ShotSpotter alert indicated five rounds were fired. Police found two men who said they were the victims of a burglary. One man said he shot the burglar.

While on scene, officers found a 38-year-old man in a nearby alley with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital in serious condition.

Police arrested Lawrence Burns, 24, for aggravated battery with a firearm.
