Gov. J.B. Pritzker and Lt. Gov. Julianna Stratton march in the West Peoria 4th of July parade.

For the first time, an Illinois governor joined in West Peoria's annual Independence Day parade.

Gov. J.B. Pritzker and Lt. Gov. Julianna Stratton were invited to march in West Peoria's 49th annual 4th of July parade this year by Mayor Jimmy Dillon.

The Democratic governor was scheduled to march in East Moline's 4th of July parade in the afternoon.

The parade is one of Central Illinois' largest celebrations of the nation's birthday.
