U.S. Representative Cheri Bustos says she is pressing for a federal disaster declaration for farmers in her district.
Bustos recently talked with U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue. She says she told him farmers in the 17th Congressional District need federal assistance this year.
“The bottom line is, whether it’s disaster relief or trade policy, we need to make sure that we are there for our farmers, and we offer them stability as they navigate through this tough farm economy.”
Bustos says she also told Perdue that the trade war waged by President Donald Trump is hurting farmers.
