Peoria Council Member Concerned About Massage Parlors

WCBU News

City Councilman Chuck Grayeb is concerned about what he calls a proliferation of massage parlors in Peoria.

He asked city manager Patrick Urich at last night’s council meeting how the city is monitoring massage businesses that appear sporadically in commercial centers.

"Are we giving tickets to these landlords who are letting these businesses come in in areas near schools and where they’re really not permitted?" said Grayeb.

Urich responded, "I think the community development department has made it clear that they will be ticketing the establishments and the landlords."

Urich says they are using the internet to identify the parlors to see if they are appropriately zoned. He may present a proposal to the council in the future requiring a business license ordinance.
