Delavan Medical Cannabis Grower Marketing To New Audience: Pets

DELAVAN -- A local medicinal cannabis grower is expanding into a new market aimed at pets.

Revolution Enterprises runs a cannabis cultivation facility in Delavan, a Tazewell County city about half an hour south of Peoria.

The company recently acquired HempVet, which makes hemp-based cannabinoid oil products aimed at pets.

Revolution General Counsel Ali Jubelirer said CBD can be used for various pet conditions.

“I think there’s a lot of different treatments CBD can be used for. I know, anecdotally, that anxiety is one, for example," she said.

CBD does not contain THC, the ingredient in cannabis that creates a “high.” Consumers say CBD provides many useful effects, such as pain relief. The products has recently come under increased scrutiny by the federal Food and Drug Administration, which held a hearing on CBD’s safety, marketing and sales last month.
