Illinois River to Hold Steady Monday in Peoria

The Illinois River is holding steady in Peoria, nearly 10 feet above flood stage.

The National Weather Service in Lincoln says the river’s depth Monday morning was Peoria is 27.93 feet. Flood stage is 18 feet.

The Illinois is expected to hold steady today before falling slowly to 27.8 feet by Tuesday morning. Meteorologist Ben Deubelbeiss says the current projection doesn’t include forecasted rain Wednesday and Thursday. He adds a second crest in Peoria is possible depending on how much rain falls this week.
