In Photos: Peoria Riverfront Flooding

Monday morning update: The Illinois River depth was 27.9 feet in Peoria Monday morning. Flood stage is 18 feet. The river is expected to fall slightly to 27.8 feet in Peoria by Tuesday morning. WCBU’s Kristin McHugh walked along Peoria’s Water Street Sunday afternoon to document the flood in photos.

Earlier story: The Illinois River is expected to crest nearly 10 feet above flood stage in Peoria Monday. The National Weather Service reported the river’s depth was 27.5 feet Sunday morning. Flood stage is 18 feet in Peoria. The city began sandbagging efforts last Thursday to protect River Station and sections of the riverfront.
