Contract Awarded for Peoria Air National Guard Firehouse

Construction of a new fire and rescue house for the Peoria Air National Guard is moving forward.

Congresswoman Cheri Bustos says a $7.8 million contract was awarded for the facility. She made the announcement Thursday.

Funding for the fire house was in doubt last month. The Trump administration signaled money set aside for the Peoria project and other Illinois military facilities could be used to build the president’s border wall.

The fire and rescue house project includes new sleeping quarters and equipment storage. The National Guard facility will also serve the Peoria International Airport.
