Peoria Celebrates Great American Cleanup on Saturday

Keep Peoria Beautiful

Neighborhood associations and organizations throughout Peoria are celebrating the Great American Cleanup Saturday.

Twenty-one participating neighborhood associations will have large dumpsters to assist participating residents. The dumpsters will be available from 9:00 a.m. through Noon at various neighborhood collectiopn sites.

Keep Peoria Beautiful will collect unwanted electronics at Glen Oak Learning Center beginning at 9:00 a.m. Acceptable items include televisions up to 60-inches, batteries and personal electronics.

The Tireless Project will collect unwanted tires at JIMAX on West Clark Street from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Saturday with additinally scheduled collections dates posted below. Residents with proof of a Peoria address can dispose up to ten tires at no cost.

The Tireless Project was initiated in 2015 by Peoria volunteers. They successfully collected about 3,800 tires in their inaugural year. In July 2017, JIMAX volunteered to take over the collection.

The ongoing schedule of collection time for tire may end earlier than posted if the trailer is at capacity (approximately 1,000 tires). If tires are left after the designated hours, a $200 fine for littering will be enforced.

Restrictions and guidelines for tire drop-off:

The limit is 20 tires per customer; this is a legal requirement for transporting tires.

First 10 tires are FREE; there is a $1.00 charge for each tire over 10—CASH ONLY. (Funds will be used for project supplies and neighborhood cleanups.)

Only City of Peoria residents can participate; no businesses will be allowed.

Customers must have proof of residency in the form of a driver’s license, state ID OR property tax statement.

No tires with rims will be accepted.

Only passenger and truck tires 17" or less will be accepted; no oversized tires, including agricultural and commercial, will be accepted.
