Murder Suspect Surrenders to Peoria Police

Peoria Police Department

Peoria police have arrested the woman wanted for stabbing another young woman in large fight last week at Schmoeger Park.

29-year-old Jatara Johnson was wanted in connections with the fatal stabbing of Charee Alexander.

The 19-year-old Alexander was stabbed in the neck last Thursday evening at the maylee. She died Friday. Alexander has been described as a bystander in the fight and her mother said she was only there to support her sister.

Jatara Johnson turned herself in yesterday evening. She’s being held at the Peoria County Jail, charged with First Degree Murder and Aggravated Battery.
