Maintenance on the WCBU and WTVP towers and transmitters is now complete. WCBU is back on the air. We apologize for the disruption in service.
Earlier information:Maintenance work on WCBU's broadcast transmitter and antenna is now underway. Work began around 10:00 a.m. We anticipate that the WCBU and WTVP transmitters will be off the air for a few hours.
Interim station manager Bill Porter says WCBU and WTVP being off the air it is not related to any of the Bradley/ISU negotiations to forge a management partnership agreement between WCBU and WGLT. We are sorry for any inconvenience.
The tower is in East Peoria, at WTVP's transmitter tower site. Some of the red aircraft warning lights have failed, so WTVP hired a crew to climb the tower and repair the lighting system. Tower climbers can't be near the antenna when the transmitter is operating at full power.
