Peoria Airport: More Traffic, Increased Need for Parking

The Peoria International Airport's record-breaking passenger trend continues.

General Wayne A. Downing officials say more than 47-thousand travelers flew through Peoria last month. That’s up more than three-percent from 2017, and sets a new February record.

Director of Airports Gene Olson says the high passenger count is immediately noticeable. The main parking lot is full, and overflow parking is quickly filling up. The airport has more than 3300 free-of-charge parking spaces in various lots.

Olson advises allowing for extra time to find parking during the spring break travel season. He says the airport will implement an emergency parking plan as necessary, noting some schools in greater Peoria don’t start spring break until later this week.

2018 was the airport’s busiest ever with more than 672,000 total passengers traveling through facility.
