Ballot for April Peoria City Council Election Set

Creative Commons

Illinois Central College Vice President Rita Ali ran away with the Consolidated Primary Election Tuesday for the Peoria City Council At-Large Race.

Ali garnered more than 27% of the vote in a field of 14 other candidates. That’s more than double the next best finisher, attorney Beth Jensen who is an incumbent.

The third and fourth place vote-getters are incumbents Sid Ruckriegel and Zach Oyler. Incumbent Beth Akeson finished eighth with less than five percent of the vote.

The other candidates rounding out the field of 10 moving forward are Methodist College Administrator Andre Allen, retired financial consultant John Kelly, former city employee Peter Kobak, realtor Branden Martin and college student Aaron Chess.

The top five finishers in the April 2nd general election will serve a 4-year term as an At-Large member of the Peoria City Council.
