Mixed precipitation could make Wednesday morning’s commute difficult as another round of winter weather descends on central Illinois.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory beginning at 9:00 tonight for the entire Peoria Public Radio listening area.
Forecasters say snow and freezing rain are possible through Noon Wednesday. Motorists should expect slippery road conditions and limited visibilities.
Assistant Peoria Public Works Director Sie Maroon says the city’s ‘snow fighters’ will begin 12-hour shifts at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. Crews will work to keep primary streets in safe traveling condition before treating residential streets.
Maroon adds the city is planning to use a salt and sand mixture on roads before the early morning rush hour.
