Two people are dead including the gunman after he entered a house on John Gwynn Avenue in Peoria just before 7:00 a.m. They have been identified as 30-year-old Kayla Fannon and 39-year-old David Jenkins, both of Peoria. Police are not yet calling it a murder-suicide. But Peoria Police spokeswoman Amy Dotson says it was a very fast fluid situation.

She says a woman who fled the house called police at 6:56 a.m. reporting a man had entered the house shooting.

“The male that was attempting to get out of the home was a victim inside the home, he was secured as well and the female caller. Upon entry into the home, after shots were fired, officers located an adult female deceased at the scene as well as an adult male with a gunshot wound,” Dotson said. The man who was shot was transported to a hospital, where died.

Dotson also says, “there were no shots fired by police,” and a handgun was recovered at the scene. Identities and the relationships of the parties involved were not immediately clear.

The shooting happened in the 1200 block of John Gwynn Avenue as many children were on their way to school.
