HOI United Way Campaign Slightly Behind Last Year

The Heart of Illinois United Way raised $10.3-million last year. That's $800-thousand dollars less than the previous year.

President Jennifer Zammuto says the United Way was not surprised at the drop in giving.

"We had three large gifts that came into our campaign last year that we knew were one-time gifts so we had anticipated that we would be a $10-million campaign and we actually believe for the size of this community and the amount we’re raising, it’s an incredibly generous community," says Zammuto.

Zammuto says it is too early to determine how that may affect the funding of programs for the coming year. The United Way will go through its allocation process and determine where dollars are most effectively used.
