PIA Sets Annual Passenger Record

Peoria International Airport set a passenger record in 2018. General Wayne A. Downing officials say 672,594 passengers traveled through the airport, a six-percent jump from 2017.

Director of Airports Gene Olson says Peoria’s mix of routes serves both leisure and business travelers. He adds airlines take note of the ‘Fly Local’ movement.

American Airlines is adding larger planes to its Charlotte, North Carolina, departures beginning in mid-February. The jets will accommodate 65 passengers and feature nine business class seats.

Peoria International’s 2018 passenger record capped off a series of milestones for the facility. The airport also recorded seven monthly passenger records in 2018, with June being the busiest month in airport history.
