State representative Jehan Gordan-Booth has a new job title. The Peoria democrat was recently elected Deputy Majority Leader for the Illinois House of Representatives.
Gordon-Booth serves the 92nd district. She says she’s honored to expand her leadership role, and looks forward to bringing important resources to Peoria and other communities across Illinois.
Gordon-Booth had been serving as Assistant Majority Leader since 2015.
Gordon-Booth is the first African-American woman to hold the position, and she is the highest ranked elected official outside the city of Chicago.
