Winter Weather Advisory: Ice Expected Tuesday

Creative Commons

Another round of icy weather is in store for central Illinois.

The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. primarily north of a line from Rushville to Bloomington. This includes Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties.

Officials say freezing rain and wind gusts as high as 35 miles-per-hour are possible. Slippery conditions could affect roads, sidewalks, and parking lots.

The weather service says conditions should improve Tuesday afternoon once temperatures rise above freezing. But plummeting temperatures tomorrow night could cause refreezing, making travel hazardous into Wednesday.
