Peoria Public Schools to Debut Online Academy

Peoria Public Schools will launch web-based courses next month. The Online Academy will offer middle and secondary curriculum to current district students and those who reside outside of the district boundaries.

Home-schooled and private school students are also eligible. Officials say certified teachers will monitor each class, and tutoring services will be offered.

The class schedule does not follow the district’s official calendar year, which allows students to work at their own pace. The Online Academy can also be used for extra electives, and tailored to help students free-up schedules for internships and community service.

Peoria Public School officials launched a series of parent informational meetings this month. The next informational meetings are slated for January 4.

Parents interested in learning more about the Online Academy should call 309-672-6758 to reserve a meeting time.
