Peoria County Home Sales Up in November

Peoria Public Radio/Tanya Koonce

Illinois home prices inched higher last month despite fewer units sold.

The Illinois REALTORS organization reports family home and condominium sales statewide were down 1.6% in November when compared with figures from the previous year. The statewide median home price was $190-thousand, a nearly three percent hike from November 2017.

Peoria County recorded 208 sales in November, which is up one-percent from the same period last year. Overall, 41 Illinois counties recorded November sales gains. McHenry County near the Wisconsin border saw year-over-year sales jump 12%, while the city of Chicago recorded a nearly 9% drop.

The Illinois REALTORS trade group expects an overall market slowdown through early 2019 due to typically lower holiday season sales.
