Peoria Police Investigate Second Murder Since Sunday

A 43-year old Peoria man is the city’s latest homicide victim. Jerrimic Booker died early Wednesday morning at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says Booker suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Booker was found inside a building in the 500 block of Spring Street. He was located after officers responded to a shooting in the area of Spring and Northeast Monroe just before 2:30 a.m.

Wednesday’s homicide was the second fatal shooting this week. 46-year-old Tina Harrison-Diaz died after suffering multiple gunshot wounds Sunday night. The Peoria woman was found in the rear of a residence in the 800 block of Northeast Monroe, which is a mere six blocks from Wednesday's homicide.

Authorities have not stated if the two murders are related. Anyone with information on either case is urged to call Peoria Police at 309-673-4521 or Crimestoppers at 309-673-9000.
