Woman Found Dead Along IL Route 6 Identified

Creative Commons

Authorities have identified the woman whose body was found along Illinois Route 6 in North Peoria Sunday morning. 35-year-old Inita Thomas was found on the northside of the road, just south of the Knoxville Avenue overpass.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says an autopsy performed Monday was inconclusive, although he confirmed Thomas did not suffer any direct trauma. Toxicology results are still pending. The coroner's office didn’t list a hometown for Thomas.

Authorities don’t know if Thomas was walking along Route 6 or if she had been placed there.

The Illinois State Police is asking anyone with information about Thomas’ death or suspicious activity in the area of Illinois Route 6 near Knoxville Avenue between 12:01 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. Sunday to contact Special Agent Timothy Wilkins at 309-280-0583.
