Creative Commons

A Peoria Heights man found in a detached garage Sunday night died after suffering multiple stab wounds and blunt force trauma. Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says the death of 62-year-old William K. Edwards is being investigated as a homicide. Edwards was pronounced dead early Monday morning.

Edwards was found in the 4000 block of North Columbus Street around 8:15 p.m. after Peoria police responded to a call of a man down. Officers found Edwards with visible injuries and a large amount of blood.

Harwood says Edwards likely died of severe internal bleeding. He adds the object used in the attack remains unknown.

The Peoria Police Department and the coroner’s office are leading the homicide investigation.
