Apple Truck Accident Disrupts I-74 Traffic Near Kickapoo Monday Morning

A couple-driving-team did some fast maneuvering for the best possible outcome to bad situation over night on Interstate-74 near Kickapoo in Peoria County.

A semi carrying a trailer loaded with apples had the trailer's back axle catch fire about midnight.

Driver 64-year-old Pamela Weil and passenger 62-year-old Jule Weil, both of Washington State, pulled to the shoulder, unhooked the trailer and drove the semi to safety. The trailer became fully engulfed.

Eastbound I-74 traffic was rerouted for several hours as the scene was cleared.
