Teens Involved in Backyard Shooting

  A 13-year-old was shot yesterday and a 15-year-old suspect is in custody.

 

Shotspotter recorded one shot about 4:30 p.m. Police responded to the 800 block of West McClure. The youth was found in the alley with a single gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to OSF St Francis Medical Center and underwent surgery.

 

The alley is shared with the parallel block of West Mac Queen. The teens were reportedly in the backyard of 811 W. MacQueen when the shooting happened. The 15-year-old at the address could not leave. He was on an ankle monitor.

Peoria Police also worked from where the shooting is believed to have happened.

  Some neighbors report the boys may have been friends. The 15-year-old is initially charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Aggravated Battery.

 

The 13-year-old’s injury is critical. The names of the boys are not being released due to age.
