East Peoria will see some unusual early morning traffic next week.
Wind turbine parts are being transported through downtown between 1:30 a.m. and 5:00 or 6:00 a.m.
The wind turbine parts will be moved from TP&W railroad through downtown. North Main from Washington to Camp Street, and West Washington from Columbia to Main Street, will be shut down for approximately four hours each morning, Monday through Friday./
Additional wind turbine transport trucks will be moving between 9 a.m. and noon each day. Momentary traffic stoppages on Main and Washington are expected. But temporary weekday road closures will continue through mid-September.
Components for a total of 109 Vestas-American Wind Technology turbines will be transported to Bureau County, mostly on ATS over-sized trucks.
The City of East Peoria has negotiated a reimbursement agreement for traffic control costs and potential damage to the streets.
