The Tazewell County Sheriff’s office issued a variety of citations during its distracted driver enforcement program last month. Chief Deputy Jeffrey Lower says 44 tickets were issued during the two-week “drop it and drive” campaign.
Most of the violations were for illegal use of electronic communication devices, although seat belt, speeding and illegal alcohol transportation citations were also issued. Lower says distracted driving is persistent in Tazewell County and enforcement will continue in an effort to keep motorists safe. The Tazewell County Sheriff’s office is one of many across the state to participate in the program.
