Another Gov. Candidate Opens Campaign Office in Peoria

Another candidate for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination has opened a campaign office in Peoria 14-days out from the election.

Peoria Sierra Club members are helping State Senator Daniel Biss and his running mate, Rockford State Representative Litesa Wallace with the office. They rallied with supporters Tuesday at the N. North St location.

Biss says he’s within striking distance of securing the nomination. “If when Pritzker outspends me, $63 million to $5 million, [and] I’m within striking distance, what’s going to happen when Rauner spends $100 million attacking him? YIKES! Democrats cannot afford that risk,” Biss said. “We ought to nominate the middle-class progressive who can actually motivate people to want to vote.”

Businessman Chris Kennedy does not have a campaign office in Peoria but was at the UAW Hall in East Peoria Monday and visits the region with some frequency. J.B. Pritzker also has a campaign office in Peoria.

Bob Daiber, Tio Hardiman, and Robert Marshall round out the Democratic gubernatorial candidate field. Recent voter polls suggest collectively they have about 30 percent of the vote.
