East Peoria Resumes Fall Burning Schedule

East Peoria has reinstituted its burning season. The recent rainfall makes the burning of dry yard waste an option for East Peoria residents from October 15th through Nov 30th.

Drought conditions had postponed the annual burning option. The city encourages burning only as a last resort. Waste Management offers pick-up services for a fee and the city suggests composting as another option.

Those planning to burn are asked to check with neighbors for health conditions that might be exacerbated by smoke.  Residents should only burn light, dry yard waste in small piles to reduce smoke. People are also asked to limit burning to daytime hours with wind less than 10 miles per hour.

East Peoria residents check all the fall burning ordinance on the city’s website or by calling city hall.
