BREAKING: Autopsy Results Show Russell Jr. Was Shot 17-20 Times

The autopsy of Eddie Russell, Jr., who was shot and killed by Peoria Police Wed., confirmed he died of multiple gunshot wounds. The Peoria County Coroner reports Russell was shot 18 times.

That number is more than three times what the Peoria Police Chief reported in the hours immediately after the incident.

On Wed., before police fired at Russell, he emerged from his home and advanced toward officers with a raised gun. He was the suspect of an armed bank robbery earlier in the day.

The Peoria Chapter of the NAACP promised to follow the case. Russell is said to have suffered from “mental instability.”

The NAACP says it’s holding a peaceful march from Martin Luther King Park to the police department. Russell Junior’s family is expected to attend.

The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s office planned a press conference Fri. at 2:30pm. County State’s Attorney Jerry Brady says his office will address the “procedure going forward," regarding the investigation of the police involved shooting and the death of Edward Russell, Jr.
