OSF HealthCare

OSF HealthCare is expanding its presence down state.

The Peoria-based health provider announced Tues. it's buying Presence Covenant Medical Center in Urbana and Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville, pending regulatory approval.

Presence Health is one of the largest Catholic health systems in Illinois, serving over 4 million people in 11 counties.

OSF HealthCare currently operates 11 hospitals, 10 in Illinois and one in Michigan. The hospital system, which is also Catholic, employs nearly 19,000 people at 115 locations. Its revenues in 2016 were $2.4 billion.

OSF says in a news release the transaction is expected to close during the first quarter of calendar year 2018.
