Increased Commerce Brings Tighter Street Parking in Warehouse District

Downtown Development Corporation of Peoria

Street parking in Peoria’s Warehouse District is now limited to two hours.

The Downtown Development Corporation celebrated the change in a news release Fri., saying the restriction comes in response to the growth of retail businesses in the area.

DDC President Michael Freilinger says they believe the change will benefit those businesses by increasing parking turnover, thereby allowing more customers to park in the street.

Parking is still free, however, parking in the Warehouse District will be limited to two hours on weekdays, from 8am-5pm.

The City’s Transportation Commission and the City Manager approved a DDC petition requesting the new parking restrictions.

The map below identifies the area where the new two-hour parking restriction applies, and where signs are posted.
