About two-dozen people participated in a Healthcare rally yesterday, across the street from Republican Congressman Darin LaHood’s office.

The Peoria Healthcare Coalition and Indivisible Illinois organized the protest. Missy Norman was one of the speakers. Norman was born with Spina Bifida and lives independently with the assistance of Medicaid- based home and community services.

“I’m very concerned about the possible cuts that could be made to Medicaid that could cause me to lose those services, and without them, it would be almost impossible to live in my own home and be active in my own community,” Norman said.

Norman says federal lawmakers shouldn’t throw out the Affordable Care Act but says it can be improved.

Rep. LaHood, IL-18, was one of the seven Illinois Republican Congressman who voted for TrumpCare, the Affordable Care Act Replacement, last month.

Rallies are also scheduled in Wheaton and Barrington Thursday.

Also Thursday, the Senate GOP is expected to release its version of a bill that would undo Barack Obama’s signature health-care law.
