Peoria area hospitals have lifted their request for people with flu symptoms to voluntarily limit hospital visits because of a decrease in flu cases. The request was in place to help limit flu exposure for the hospitals' patients and staff.

Facilities that participated in the request include OSF Saint Francis Medical Center; UnityPoint Health's Methodist, Proctor, and Pekin campuses; and Hopedale Medical Complex. The Peoria City/County Health Department recommended the hospitals lift their visitor restrictions.

The health department is also redoubling it’s recommendations for good hygiene practices including hand sanitation, and coughing and sneezing into one’s arm, shoulder or tissue to prevent the spread of diseases.  The health department also says people should stay home if ill to prevent the spread of the bug.
